Fabric Flowers

Today I am going to share how I make my fabric flowers.  On the card below I have used organza to make the flowers, in the little tutorial I have used cotton quilting fabric.  You can use any fabric, even thicker fabrics such as velvet.

I've added the notes on each photo to keep it simple.

I made two different sized flowers for this card.  The image and sentiment is from the new Whiff of Joy Store Stamp kit that is only available from stores that have elected to stock the kits.  The list of stores is on the Whiff of Joy website here

Sketch 16

Are these papers just gorgeous!  The are Craft Creations, so pretty.  I have coloured Willow with Copics (on SU Whisper White – this card seems to really give a lovely soft effect with Copics).  The pearls were stuck down after marking out some scrolls using on of the Bazzill jewel templates.  The flowers are from Crafty Feeling (the new kit) and the flower centres are from The Hobby House (I can’t see them on the website so will add the link here when I find them).  The tear drop pearl pins are here

Shabby Chic Flowers

Today I am sharing how I made my Shabby Chic (sounds much better than just plain old shabby) flowers like I used on this card.woj-eb-city-chics-1

To make the black flower I used:

Heavyweight white paper
Black dye ink
Brayer
Spellbinders Blossom Nesitibilities (but blossom type punches will work just as well)
Sanding block and/or emery board
Button or large brad for centre

To get the white core I brayered black dye ink on to the white paper, giving a good even coverage.  However you could use any designer paper instead and miss out this part.

Cut out three shapes using the three smallest dies in the set, don't bother embossing them

Sand the edges of each layer to expose the white core (do this with designer paper as well)

shabby-flower-5

Crumple each layer up well.

shabby-flower-6

Open each layer out but don't straighten the shapes out too much

shabby-flower-7

Apply a strong glue in the centre of each layer - the one I use is clear drying and holds all embellishments really well.

Using wire cutters snip off the shank of the button (you may need to sand this smooth if you don't get a clean cut)

shabby-flower-9

Apply the button to the centre, pushing down well.

And there you have a shabby chic flower, quick and easy

I hope this will be of use to you, and I'm looking forward to seeing lots of shabby chic flowers in blog-land.  Have a great weekend!

Wine Glass Lamp Shade

Today I have a parchment wine glass lamp shade to show you.
7
I used the following materials
This Pattern
Vellum or parchment, I used pearlescent vellum from Joanna Sheen
Stamps – Whiff of Joy Christmas Candle and Christmas Swirls Collection
Versamark Ink
Gold Detail Embossing Powder
Anti-Static bag or sheet
Embossing tool and firm mat (I used a piece of vinyl flooring as it’s just the right density to emboss on)
Scalloped and straight scissors
Stamp Positioner and dark ink
Wine Glass and battery operated “candle”

1

Print off the template, cut out and trace on to vellum.  I used scalloped scissors along the bottom edge of the shade.  Ink up the candle stamp with a dark ink and stamp on to stamp positioner.  Rub the vellum with an anti-static bag/sheet to ensure that the embossing powder does not stick to the vellum apart from on the stamped images.  Line up the image on the stamp positioner where you want the main image to be stamped.

2

Ink up the candle image with Versamark ink and stamp on to the vellum.  Using the small swirl from the Christmas Swirls set stamp a border along the top and bottom using Versamark Ink.  Emboss with gold detail embossing powder and heat set.

3

I then flipped the shade over and using the embossing tool embossed the back of the image gently till the vellum turned white.  This really makes the image pop.  I also embossed along the bottom scalloped edge to highlight the scallops.

4
A close up of the front of the image once it has been embossed

5
One wine glass candle shade.  All in all it took under 10 minutes to make.

6
Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas
